Programs & Services

  • Local 565 Scholarships – There are FOUR scholarships available through the Local for 2022. They are the President’s Scholarship ($1500), the Scott Gast Scholarship and the Paul Lund Scholarship (both are $1100 each), and the SMW 565 Scholarship ($1000).
    • The 2022 Scholarship Informational Cover Letter can be found HERE. The scholarships need to be emailed or postmarked by February 14, 2022.
    • The 2022 Scholarship Application that can be filled out on the computer can be found HERE. This application can be filled in using your computer’s PDF reader (non-interactive form). In order to be able to type on the document, you will need to save this document to your computer first and then reopen the saved file. Every PDF reader is different, so use your reader’s help function to find out how your particular reader does this. Below are two common programs:
      • The 2022 Scholarship Application in word format that can be printed out and completed by hand can be found HERE. You can also type on this form directly if you wish.

  • Other Labor related Scholarships:
    • IA Sheet Metal Scholarship Program: Request an application between September 1st through February 15th. Applications are due by March 1, 2022.     • Union Plus Scholarship:  If you participate in the Union Plus program, your dependent can apply for this scholarship. The application deadline is January 31, 2022 and you can only apply online.     • Wisconsin Labor History Society High School Essay Contest: If you are a High School student and are interested in winning up to $500, click HERE for more information. The deadline for submissions is February 15, 2022.
    • South Central Federation of Labor Scholarship: If you are interested in the SCFL Scholarship click HERE for the online (preferred) application. You can also click HERE for a printable version. The SCFL scholarship is due back by June 24, 2022.
  • Union Plus Members only free college program: Union Plus offers free college for union members and their families. Earn your degree for free online. The Free College Benefit helps union families continue their college education without piling on thousands of dollars in student debt. Click HERE for more information.
  • Member to Member Fund – Monies given out to a member in need. Click HERE for the online request form.
  • Integrity Lifestyle Benefits – If you have any insurance (life, home, auto, and more!) needs, definitely give them a call at 715-814-1432 or click HERE to go to their website.
  • Local 565 Death Benefit – $2,000 for death of member.
  • American Income Life AD&D policy – $3,500
  • SMART International AD&D policy – $7,500
  • Stars and Stripes Online Apparel  – Stars and Stripes is an American Union printing and embroidery shop that will be providing an online merchandise store solely for SMART Local 565. Additionally, Stars and Stripes have committed to graciously donating 3% of all sales to our Member to Member Fund!
