Programs & Services

  • Local 565 Scholarships – There are FOUR scholarships available through the Local for 2026. They are the President’s Scholarship ($1500), the Scott Gast Scholarship and the Paul Lund Scholarship (both are $1100 each), and the Paul Baker Scholarship ($1000).
      • The 2026 Scholarship Informational Cover Letter can be found HERE. The scholarships need to be emailed or postmarked by February 9, 2026.
      • The 2026 Scholarship Application can be found HERE. If you would like an application that you can print and fill out by hand, please click HERE.

  • Other Labor related Scholarships:
    • IA Sheet Metal Scholarship Program: Request an application between September 1st through February 15th. Applications are due by March 1, 2026.     • Wisconsin Labor History Society High School Essay Contest: If you are a High School student and are interested in winning up to $500, click HERE for more information. The deadline for submissions is February 15, 2026.
    • South Central Federation of Labor Scholarship: (2026 NOT AVAILABLE YET) If you are interested in the SCFL Scholarship click HERE for the application, however, they prefer that applications are filled out online. The link to the online application is: https://forms.gle/Skcc68MoTLkKvoVu7
      • The SCFL scholarship is due back by June 20, 2025.
  • Union Plus Members only affordable college programs: Union Plus offer affordable college certificates and degrees and help with cutting college costs for union families. With affordable, online options for certificates, associate, bachelor’s and graduate degrees, plus annual scholarship awards, Union Plus is here to help your union family reach its education goals.   • Member to Member Fund – Monies given out to a member in need. Click HERE for the online request form.
  • Local 565 Death Benefit – $2,000 for death of member.
  • SMART International AD&D policy – $7,500
  • Stars and Stripes Online Apparel  – Stars and Stripes is an American Union printing and embroidery shop that will be providing an online merchandise store solely for SMART Local 565. Additionally, Stars and Stripes have committed to graciously donating 3% of all sales to our Member to Member Fund!
